Actionable Biodiversity Intelligence for the Amazon

Amazon.ia

Inteligencia Ambiental

Introducing

Amazon.ia - Inteligencia Ambiental

The Amazon holds irreplaceable biodiversity. Yet it remains mysterious and poorly understood. Today it’s under greater threat than ever. We need better tools to respond effectively.

Amazon.ia will forever change the way we understand and protect nature. It will provide scalable biodiversity insights across the entire 6 million square kilometers of the Amazon, distinguishing meaningful changes and illuminating opportunities for action.

A Biome-Wide Network

Amazon.ia is co-developed by partners at every level, from biological field stations, government institutions, tech companies, universities, NGOs and more. By combining our strengths and data, we are assembling the greatest biodiversity monitoring tool for the Amazon the world has seen.

Action Across the Amazon

Amazon.ia will produce actionable intelligence on biodiversity across the Amazon to answer decision-makers’ critical conservation questions—accurately, cost-effectively, and in near-real time. This includes evidence of protected area effectiveness, indicators of biodiversity status and ecosystem condition, and proof of ecosystem recovery.

From Data To Insights

Better data from camera traps, bioacoustic recorders, and DNA sequencing is fused with cutting-edge satellite observations and woven together with breakthrough AI to form a picture of the Amazon like nothing we’ve seen before.

Meaningful Change

Insights are designed in partnership with local communities and decision-makers, so that results inform the policy and management decisions that directly benefit the health of the Amazon and its peoples.

Why Now?

Today’s technology creates new opportunities to understand nature at unprecedented speed and scale. We can answer crucial questions in time to act: How is biodiversity faring? Is it getting better or worse? And have we made a difference?

By combining satellite observations with data collected on the ground, Amazon.ia will reveal patterns, illuminate trends, and evaluate solutions that would be impossible to detect from any single data source alone.
Our Objective

What Next?

Amazon.ia is launching in 2026 with founding support from the Bezos Earth Fund. It brings together a diverse network of partners spanning Amazonian research institutions, conservation organizations, leading universities, tech companies, national environmental institutes, and global data and technology platforms.
